This year we explored many different types of video project creations. Opener, Teleprompter,
Commercial, Interview, Project Choice, Anchor Piece.
Please use constructive criticism in the following responses.  This is a good way for me to get feedback of what my students like or think could be improved for project selection for next year.

Please describe to me what you favorite project was and why?  What was your least favorite project and why?  Is there a project/theme that you would have liked to learn about or create/if so what is it?
My favorite project was the video montage. this was my favorite because i got to pick what theme i would like to go with (friends, family, senior pictures etc.). I did not have a least favorite project cause i really enjoy editing. maybe another fun project would be for kids to creat there own short movie.

Audio is the recording of sound in a video camera

Use Chapter 14 pages 205-209

Describe two problems that you might encounter with audio.
Audio can pick up background sounds which will make it harder to hear the person speaking. Audio can also make a person speaking not sound as clear as it could.

14-3
The most common type of audio recording is production sound.
What is production sound and what difficulties could you encounter while recording?
Production sound is the sound recorded with the camera. The problem with production sound is that you cannot re-record sound.

14-4
What is background sound? List two ways to minize background noise.
Background sound is a noise that is happening in the background of the set. it has no purpose to the set. a way to minize background sound would to give someone a mic that is attached to the camera. Another way would be to record at a good volume to edit the background sound out.

13-7
What are two lighting evaluation tools?  Why might you need to use one?
Monitors and Light Meters are helpful in the lighting process. Monitors are commonly used when recording and according to the textbook, are used in almost all types of shooting.

Do Now: 13-4 and 13-5

13-4
Masking produces hard-edge cut-off patterns. One example would be a barn door (According to the textbook).

Plagiarism 101

Tutorial:
1. to avoid plagiarizing, read the sentence and write it in your own words, then cite the source (give credit to whom your getting the information from)

2. Plagiarism is not just copying someones work without giving them credit, its also handing in the same paper for more than one class, downloading a paper, and writing a paper for someone else or having someone else write a paper for you

3. Common knowledge does not need to be cited (Independence day is on July 4th)

Article:
1. Plagiarism, to me, means that you are copying someone elses work and are not giving them credit for what they wrote
2. I am concerned about plagiarism because I could get into a lot of trouble if i were to plagiarize and get caught. If someone where to plagiarize my work, I would be very upset because I am not being noticed for something that I thought and wrote.
3. Three ways to aviod plagiarism would be to know how to cite my sources correctly, avoid copying peoples work (papers, homework etc.), and if you agree with what someone says, you can quote them and explain how you strongly agree with what they had to say.
4. Some person 1: "I strongly believe that Nicole Calella is an amazing basketball player, and she will make it to the WNBA."
Some person 2: "Nicole Calella has been playing basketball for years, and since she has become such a great athlete, many people believe she will make it to the WNBA"

What is the shutter?
According to chapter 12, the shutter controls the amount of time alotted to forming each video frame (image)

12-12
Shutter programs can adjust camcorder setting for you automatically.  Give one example of a shutter program (217-218)
One purpose of shutter program is that it forces open the aperture

12-13
What is framing the shot?
Lining up the viewfinder up like a picture window to what you are filming

12-14
What is look room and lead room?
Look room is leaving room in the frame in which the person is facing. Lead room is moving the camera with the way the subject is moving to hold the frame.

12-15
In what shooting situation might you use panning and tilting of the camra?
You would use panning when your scanning something horizontally, like a view of a mountain range or a lot of people. Using tilting would be necessary in a situation where you would view something vertically, something such as a building or a large landmark

12-10
The camera in the interview project with the good sound/audio came from the middle camera.
12-9
We first hit record, then pop the strobe flash light, so we know exactly where we started the interview and it is easy to edit and review.
12-8
The camera on the left, facing the stage, is positioned to be directly on the opposite person of the camera.  Likewise, the camera postitioned on the right, facing the stage, is lined to show the second person of the interview.  The camera positioned in the middle is designed to show both members of the interviewing party.
12-7
There are three cameras recording for the interview project.
12-6
The aperture on a camera affects how much light is entering the lens of the camera.  This will change the appearance of the shot.

Do Now: 12-4

Perspective is the illusion of depth in the picture, the apparent distance from the camcorder to the farthest part of the scene.

Do Now: 12-3

Depth of field is the distance, in front of and behind the plane on which the lens is focused, in which objects in the image sharp. A scene that looks perfectly sharp in wide angle may turn soft when you zoom to telephoto.

Three camera support systems that are used by camcorders are 1. tripods, 2. stabilizers, and 3. dollies.

Camera Dolly- A camera dolly is a wheeled platform used to make smooth moving shots.

Do Now: 11-3

1.  The electrically encoded information about each video field (one-half frame)
is sent to a record head spinning on a drum in the recorder.

2. The record head preserves the signal by selectively magnetizing
metallic particles on the videotape that moves across its path

Do Now:11-2

1. Light passes through the camcorder lens,
which organizesit into a cherent image and
projects it onto the surface of the chip.

 2. The chip contains hundreds of thousands
of microscopic sensors. Each sensor responds
differently to the amount and color of light striking it,
so each sensor creates a different electric signal.

1. Subject - identify the subject matter by assigning project temporary working title.
2. Objectives - identify client's objectives.
3. Audience - identify who the product is being seld to and what marketing techniques would work for this group of people.
4. Delivery System - identify how the audience will view the video.  The delivery system includes a video monitor or falt screen.
5. Length - identify how long the length of the display will last.
6. Budget - identify how much the display will cost - the amount of money needed to produce the program

Safety Rules for the Cameras:
1. Carefully hold the camera with the handle.
2. When not in use, close the view finder.
3. Don't put the camera down and walk away

Do Now:9-1 1/4

A viral advertisement is a technique used on social networks that helps increase the awareness of brands or other marketing objectives.

My Opinion:
Viral ads are sometimes annoying on the screen, especially when using YouTube.  This is because the video that is being watched is delayed ten or fifteen seconds by the ad.

Viral commercials could affect the video commercial industry pretty drastically.  As these ads become more and more popular, tv commercials would become less viewed and less productive.  More people are beginning to use technology, especially computers, therefore ads would become more viewed through computers than the television.

Do Now: 8-3 1/3

Two Examples of Lens Perspective in the Video World:

Heineken Commercial
This is one of my all-time favorites because it is humorous while telling a story line.  It begins with a good dialogue that turns to laughter.  The commercial has a storyline while promoting its product.

Gatorade Revolution
This is probably my all-time favorite commercial because it incorporates sports into a motivational commercial.  I really enjoy this Gatorade ad.  This commercial uses catchy music along with camera shots of people playing in the past in black and white.  The product shots are also pretty cool because they take close-ups of the Gatorade G Series.

Doritos Commercial
This commercial is also one of my favorites because it is very funny.  The little boy has funny dialogue that brings the audience into the ad.  The product is displayed nicely in the shot and is emphasized when a young child makes it a point to the male not to touch his food.  It is a very cute and funny commercial.

Overall, seeing these commercials can help my partner and I greatly when creating a commercial of our own.  We can try and incorporate humor as well as a a catchy jingle.  We should also keep in mind to show the product in the video shot.
